Dear Mr. Parker,

I am overwhelmed with finding your web page and information regarding the Thomas Legion. My ALLEN/TAYLOR/COTTER families came from Western NC and Eastern Tenn. David Warren Lemuel Allen served with the Legion & from what I have enlisted in 1863. He soon went to the foundry for artillery/cannon manufacturing or so I have found and am trying to prove.

My great grandfather, Thomas M. Allen's mother was a Taylor & it is also said that she goes back to Pres. Zachary Taylor. My g.g.grandmother Taylor's sister , I am told, was married to WALKER of the battalion.

In any event all I have found was in “Storm in the Mountains” which was a great book, but have tried to find more, specifically of my kin.

I retired in 2001, and the year before I was given an old hand written journal of my great grandfather Thomas Allen. It listed deaths in the Copper Mines of Ducktown as well as doctors visits in the area by a Dr. Kimsey. He tells of Christmas morning breakfast with visiting Allen kinfolk and in one area lambastes Pres. Wilson with poor spending over W.W.I.

I will begin researching all that you have. It appears extremely interesting. So many questions arise but I will save them for another time if allowed.

Respectfully,
Michael

Mr. Ball,

My name is James Lawson Ogle, son of John Lawson Ogle & grandson of Levi Hamilton & Martha Jane Ogle of Sevierville, TN.  I'm not sure if he was the same Levi you refer to but I would appreciate any info you may like to share on him.  Please email me a firewalker_150@yahoo.com. Thanks.
